SOLD:  Featured artist, Gordon Lavender is a self taught artist from Liverpool of the United Kingdom who enjoys painting Koi in some unusual situations and with some very unusual partnerships from circles to bamboo but he always make the koi the star of the painting. Gordon has been painting koi for many years and has many more ideas to include them in paintings and with luck every koi lover will own a print or painting of mine. He also hopes to bring the fascination of koi to people who usually would not even dream of having a koi painting on their wall His paintings are featured in Koi magazines and Koi USA / soon to be featured in www.koimag.co.uk Many of his paintings have sold internationally to koi clubs and have been used as presentations and prizes at koi shows, such as the Rocky Mountain Koi Club of Colorado, Mid - Atlantic Koi Show, British Koi Keepers Society - BKKS, Shadow Valley Aquatics of California. By going to http://en.easyart.com/art-prints/artists/Gordon-Paul-Lavender-11663.html you may view some of the artwork that Gordon has painted. This particular painting that Gordon has donated to the AKCA/KHV Project is a unframed/unmounted original painting measuring 16 x 12 inches on 140lb acid free langton watercolour paper, not a Giclée print or copy, but an original. This painting is painted in acrylics and each koi painting is very individual, it may be a similar theme or mixture of items but each painting has its own style as individual as the koi themselves. This 12 x 16 inches which is unmounted, when framed it would make quite a large painting and a good conversation piece. This is your chance to own a original painting not a copy or print. This painting is dated and signed by the artist himself. Some of his original paintings similar to this one have sold for as high as 200 GB sterling pounds, converted to present US dollars would amount to $308.404 US Dollar(s) (1 USD = 0.6485 GBP 1 GBP = 1.54202 USD as of 11/11/08.)

SOLD  Koi Slate by Peter Enfield - Yamabuki Ogon.  The slates being auctioned to support KHV all come from the artist's personal collection and are unique - you'll never find an identical slate.

A Koi Slate by Peter Enfield Koi Slate is approximately 24 inches tall and koi inlay is about 15 inches tall. His passion as an artist and koi hobbyist has made Peter internationally known for the beautiful koi slates that he has made. Peter has developed a technique that allows him to take the photo of a specific koi, scale it to the size of the slate to be used. Then working the slate with tools to create the outer frame for the fused glass koi that will emerge from the center of the slate. There are many steps that Peter’s hands perform as an artist that provide the final beautiful slate artwork that are sought after internationally. Peter starts with a photograph of a Grand Champion Koi to create his glass patterns. He takes a beautiful piece of gray slate and carves out the powerful koi shape. Next he takes special fusible stained glass and cuts it into the koi's unique patterns. The pieces of cut glass are put together like a jigsaw puzzle and then fired in a special glass kiln to fuse it into a solid glass koi. Then the fused glass koi is fitted into the indentation in the prepared piece of slate to create an extraordinarily beautiful and unique piece of koi art. Unlike our perishable pets, Peter's koi art is timeless. His koi colors will never fade. The vibrant reds, porcelain whites, and shiny ebony blacks are perfect. Peter creates the beautiful image of Grand Champion koi floating on the surface of a deep dark crystal clear pond. Many koi hobbyists, koi professionals and international breeders have been trying to obtain one of Peter's koi/slate art pieces for years, however; Peter does not sell his creations. Until recently, one way to get one of Peter's koi slates was to win the Annual AKCA Bob Spindola, Champion of Champions, Award. This award and accompanying piece of Peter's koi art is given to the top Koi chosen from photos of all the Grand Champion Koi winners at Koi shows in the USA. Not an easy thing to accomplish. You might also get one of Peter's koi slates at a special auction at events like the annual AKCA National Seminar. Peter has donated these beautiful slates to koi associations and clubs to honor special dignitaries and to be used as fundraisers at auctions of clubs. Peter’s most recent and generous donation and gift was to provide slates to the Associated Koi Clubs of America (AKCA) – KHV Project. This is Peter’s way of providing funding for the education and research in the eradication of KHV to the koi hobby. This is your opportunity to own one of Peter's unique pieces of koi art and help the AKCA PROJECT KHV at the same time. Once these slates are gone, they undoubtedly will become collector items in the koi world. At this time it is not known if Peter will make additional slates available. Previous slates have been auctioned as high as $3100.
